Physical Therapist. Certified Health Coach. Certified Canine Rehab Therapist.

My full name is ROSALIE but I am known more to my colleagues, patients and clients as OCHIE.  I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree  in Physical Therapy from the University of the Philippines in 1989.  Shortly after that, I came to the US where I worked in a variety of settings (Acute care/hospital, Skilled Nursing/Long term care, Home Health, Acute Rehab, and Outpatient Rehab), seeing patients of all ages.  Over the years, I have had advanced training in Geriatric Rehab (Geriatric Certified Specialist 1998-2018), NDT (Neuro-Developmental Treatment) of Adults with Stroke, Cancer Survivorship Rehab, Head Injury, Pelvic Health for Men and Women, and different Manual Therapies.  I am certified in LSVT BIG, which is a specialized treatment for individuals with neurological problems, primarily those with Parkinson’s Disease.  I received my Health Coach certification from the United States Health Foundation in 2019.  Last but not least, I am a Certified Canine Rehab Therapist (CCRT), and provide therapy for our four-legged friends (for more info, go to https://www.facebook.com/handandpawcaninerehab).

My Thoughts on Health and Wellness

A lesson from my high school Health Class that stuck to me was Health is truly wealth. It doesn’t matter how much money or material things you have, you can’t enjoy them if you are ill.  You probably would be missing out on spending time with your friends and family. You cannot truly enjoy doing things that you love.

Health and wellness go together.  The World Health Organization defines Health as “not merely the absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. It defines Wellness as “an action an individual takes to meet the above definition of health.”  As a Physical Therapist and Certified Health Coach, I combine my knowledge of nutrition, stress management and exercise physiology and function to help my patients and clients improve their well-being.

My Goal

My goal is to combine my knowledge of  anatomy, exercise physiology, manual therapy, nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices to improve  your well being by helping you decrease your pain, increase your strength and improve your mobility, as well as improve your balance and decrease your fall risk, or recover from injury.  I understand and respect the value of medications and surgery but numerous studies have shown that Physical Therapy is a more conservative way of healing the body.
